Layered Pumpkin with Lorrie

Hello everyone,
One of the things I like to do when I am browsing Lori Whitlock’s SVG and Silhouette store files is try to think of a way to use them in which perhaps they weren’t intended.
I love the Build a Rosette (Silhouette Store Item 32782) file Lori created and have thought of so many different ideas to utilize them.  Today, I thought I’d try making a pumpkin from the rosettes.
I simply resized the rosettes by 1/4” several times and hot glued them together.
The Fall Leaves (Silhouette Store 23093) made perfect leaves for the top of the pumpkin.
I started thinking of so many ways to use the Rosettes!  How about an apple for the teacher?  A cute pineapple for a tropical party table deco?  I once made a Christmas tree using this exact same method.
Don’t forget the glitter spray to give it that finishing touch.

Baby Gift Set with Lorrie

Hello everyone!  I’ve got a fun baby gift set for you today.

I started with Lori Whitlock’s A2 Baby Chalkboard Card .  To make the chalkboard look a little more “chalky”, I simply used a paper towel which I dabbed into my white ink pad and lightly went over the sentiment area.  I used Versamark and white embossing powder for the sentiment which is from a Papertrey Ink stamp set.
I added just a bit of twine to string the embellishments across the top of the chalkboard.  Two simple brads filled in as “screws” holding the chalkboard in place.  I used this as a card, so I didn’t add string from the back and front bottom holes, but the holes are provided and it would make a super cute baby shower decor piece as well.
This box was super easy to assemble.  I used Lori’s Wavy Lid Box.  I simply added a big bow, a brown button and a Sweet Baby Sentiment from Imaginisce.
Lori’s SVGs and Silhouette files make it super easy to add a special touch to all your gift/party needs.
Thanks for stopping by!

Link Up Party with Lorrie

Welcome Back to our next linkup party! CONGRATS to our most recent linkup winner MELISSA CRAIG Watch your email for a gift certificate! Now on to Lorrie to teach you about the new linkup party. Good luck to all!

For this challenge you can use any or Lori’s files from her SVG Shop or the Silhouette Online Store. You have until July 30th at NOON to link-up your project.  The winner will receive a gift card to Lori’s shop and will be announced here on July 31th!
It’s Lorrie here and I am excited to pick the theme for this week’s link up party.  We absolutely love seeing what everyone creates with Lori Whitlock files and really appreciate you linking up here on the blog so that others can be inspired by your creativity as well.
I don’t know about you, but summer brings lots of birthday celebrations in my family!  Birthday celebrations calls for birthday cards and fun little gifts.   I thought a Birthday Theme would be perfect for the link up challenge!  Link up your birthday cards, gift boxes, banners or any birthday celebration project using one of Lori’s SVG files from her blog or one of Lori’s Silhouette files from the Silhouette online store.  You could be the winner of a $15.00 gift card for a shopping spree at LoriWhitlock.com!!
For my project, I used Lori’s Hot Air Balloon Box and Balloon Card.  I thought it would be fun to cut them out of clear acetate to add a little something unexpected.
I love that you can see the crazy stuffing inside the box.  It just screams “HAPPY”.  I cut the acetate with the Silhouette!  I used overhead transparency and set the blade at 6, speed at 3 and pressure at 25.  It worked perfectly!
I made a matching flat balloon silhouette on the inside of the card so there is room to write your greeting. It’s fun to try different papers, patterns and even clear acetate when making projects. I can’t wait to see your Birthday creations!  Be sure and link them up for a chance to win!!

Tutorial with Lorrie: Tissue Paper Candles + New at Jessica Sprague

Good morning! We hope your holiday season has been wonderful thus far. Lorrie from our digital team has created the most beautiful candles we wanted to share with you before Christmas is over, so before I show you the new product at Jessica Sprague, check out this amazing tutorial.

Happy Holidays everyone!   It’s Lorrie here and I’ve got a quick and easy gift idea for your friends, family and all those special people in your lives.  These tissue paper candles are super easy to make.  All you need is a plain white (or light colored) candle, a piece of wrapping tissue paper, a couple straight pins or tacks and a hot air gun (or blowdryer), and your favorite Lori Whitlock digital elements!

Step one:  Measure your candle and create your design in Photoshop, Silhouette Software or whatever program you choose.  My candle was 6″ tall and 3″ around, so I made my design 6″ tall and about 9-1/2″ wide so that I would have a slight overlap.

Next, cut out a piece of tissue paper slightly smaller than 8-1/2″ x 11 and secure it to a piece of printer paper using scotch tape across the top edge.

Make sure you feed the end with the tape into your printer first and orient the paper so that the image will print on the tissue paper.   Print your image on the tissue paper, then remove the tissue paper and trim your image (it doesn’t have to be perfect).

Wrap the image around the candle and secure with push pins, straight pins or tacks.  Using your heat gun with a constant moving hand start heating the tissue paper.  You will see it will become glossy.  Keep moving, it happens quickly.  The tissue paper will be absorbed by the wax and disappear leaving on the image behind.

Here is my finished candle.   Now just add some festive wrapping paper and you are ready to light up your loved ones holidays with a Christmas Candle.

We also have something new at JessicaSprague this week. This beautiful product is 30% off this week.
